Does anyone know if it's possible to watch their recorded shows/movies from EyeTV on PlexConnect? I only get audio and a black screen!? Shouldn't PlexServer be able to convert all kinds of videoformats and send it through PlexConnect to the AppleTV?
It should... technically. The question is, does it do so?
Please check the container/codec types - I would be interested in how EyeTV is storing its recordings.
Also, try to set PlexConnect to "force transcoding". Does it make a difference?
Hi Baa and thanks for your response.
I tried 'force transcoding', but then it comes with 'An error occurred loading this content - try again later'.
A few of the recordings are in the .mpg container, which works fantastic with both 'false' and 'true' forcetranscoding. So no problem there...
But all the others are in a .mp4 container, which EyeTV uses, when I choose to keep the quality as recorded. These recordings are the ones that won't work.
The following info are from one of the movies I recorded - Lucky Number Slevin: (

Can anybody else watch their EyeTV recorded shows on AppleTV with PlexConnect? I get audio, but no picture, only a black screen - also with 'force transcoding' enabled. I have a lot of shows and movies recorded with EyeTV, who I would love to be able to play on the AppleTV. :-)
Can anybody else watch their EyeTV recorded shows on AppleTV with PlexConnect?
Yes I can without any issues.
Check out this link which sets an automated process to do this.
Hi brockhill and thanks for your reply. :-)
I forgot to write that I export ALL tv-shows and movies using the 'Native formats' setting, after removing the commercials. The Native formats, saves the clip without converting.
Are your files converted when exported or do you keep them in their native formats?
No they are not converted as far as I know. The file comes out as a .mpg. I can view it on Plexconnect. I can also view it on my Pad via the Plex App.
