My server is shared both within Plex Home (paid, NOT managed, users) and with friends. When I, as the server owner, look at media that exists on my server via Discover or Watchlist, I can see the media is available on my server. Sometimes it even shows it’s available on another friend’s server:
If I view this same page from any other user’s account, even paid accounts, only the streaming services are listed:
When looking through Plex support, it appears this should not be the case:
I’ve also ensured my settings are correct:
I’ve also double checked that my library agents are compatible with this service. Of course, I don’t think I’d be able to see my server when browsing using my own account if this weren’t set up properly.
This has been an issue since the feature was introduced. Here’s my original post, which was closed but never resolved: Server missing from "Watch from these locations"
Thank you for raising this again, sorry we missed it the first time. I’m able to reproduce the issue on my end. Confused why it’s happening but raising it internally to get some answers and hopefully a fix. Thanks again!
@Pterisaur Could you please provide your PMS logs?
I had not noticed this until after reading @Pterisaur’s post. I’ve noticed an edge case that wasn’t detailed in the original post, if I search for a TV show that’s in my library, I can see my library and a friend’s library if we both have the same thing but so far for movies I haven’t seen a match for those that we both have.
TV show we both have is showing
Movies only showing my library
The movies show in both libraries if I don’t select “More ways to watch”

It’s also hit and miss for some TV shows as well. Something like Flashforward that we both have is only showing for me.
Regarding the movies I investigated to see if resolution or editions have something to do with it since the ones that were not matching also had different resolutions or editions (I have editions setup, he only keeps the extended if it’s available) but then discovered that there are some that we have in the same resolution and no special editions for me.
@Pterisaur @FabulousFadz is this only being observed on Web or are you seeing this on other clients? While I was able to reproduce this behavior once, after rolling different PMS versions, I’m no longer able to reproduce.
STR: Missing PMS availability for Home user
- Be a Home user
- Find a title in Discover or Watchlist that exists on the Home PMS
- Observe “Watch from these locations” hub
One more thing to confirm for me, would be to use the Discover Credits page of a cast member to see if that title shows up in the Discover Credits’ Movies & Shows in Media Libraries hub. Discover Credits is another page where we have an availabilities check.
This is happening on every device I have access to (multiple TVs, mobile devices, browsers) and also for varying accounts with access to my server (my Plex Home, friends’ accounts not part of my Home, etc).
It appears everything is fine when looking at a Discover Credits page of a cast member; I can see a list of Media Libraries from multiple servers, and also see the servers listed next to individual listed credits.
Where should I send my log file?
You can post here or DM me.
edit: OP mentioned that their issue was resolved via DM. Closing.
