Can I use the Watch Together feature to syncronize two devices signed in with the same plex pass? I’m thinking of two situations:
family members in two rooms in our house that want to watch the same show (ie, kids in the basement & I’m in my office).
I’m on the road and I’d like to watch a movie with my wife who is back at home.
I’m both cases both devices would be signed in with the same plexpass so I can’t see how I would invite myself in the Watch Together setup.
I hope this can be done & that I’m just missing something.
Thanks in advance.
Um, great but then what? Can I then start a “watch together” with these managed users? What about my second example where I’m not at home? What if I’m at home & my wife is away?
Your being home or not has nothing to do with it. (your server obviously needs to be set up for remote access)
You cannot watch together with the same account. You need to invite a different account. managed user accounts are different accounts. Or you can make regular free accounts for them.
OK, then let me jump ahead and ask what will be the next question: If I set up managed accounts do they have to be separate plexpass subscribers or will they pick up the features of my plexpass? Ie, will I be able to “watch together” with a managed user that I create?
You can I suppose invite a managed user account to the Watch Together session then if you have your other clients already logged into your account they will see the same session and scan start it. but you need to initially invite an account to the session that is not your own.
To be clear the managed users cannot manage your server. You are managing their account. They cannot run their own server and have Plex Pass features for it. They cannot share your server with friends only you can. They can use the mobile apps for free. They can use Plex Pass features like Skip Intro. If you allow it they can Sync from your server or watch DVR if you have a Tuner.
