Watched state not synced after watching offline

I understand it is a tricky problem to solve, Let me know what ever you need to get it resolved.

@anon18523487, is there any update you can give. My work schedule is starting up again after the quiet December and January and will be travelling again. I’m hoping this annoying bug can be quashed.

@anon18523487 take a look at my comment in the other thread on the same topic: iOS syncing not updating watched status

I’v been able to reproduce this pretty consistently by NOT watching the show all the way to the very end.

Just noticed something different as well, Plex also seems to mangle the Play History date.
This is an example.

This happens to me all the time on IOS. Getting really frustrated with this. It’s been years of this issue and Plex just ignores it.

Might be time to look for an alternative to Plex.

X-posting from the thread about this issue on iOS, pretty sure I’ve at least identified why this is happening and how to reliably reproduce: iOS syncing not updating watched status

From what I can tell, it has to do with the behavior of the app marking an item as “played” when you’ve viewed enough of it but not necessarily the whole thing (like when you’ve reached the credits). In these cases, the “played” status either isn’t written to the device and/or it’s not synced with the server. If you watch a video all the way to the end or manually mark it as played, then that status gets synced correctly.

Can someone confirm this for Android as well? And can someone from Plex please look at it from that angle?

That is not correct. I watch episodes all the way threw while binge watching five or six in a row, even the end credits, until the post play screen and the next episode starts. Maybe 2 will get marked played.

But

Watching an episode half way, that 99% of the time will get synced over.
