I can’t open that file. No need to compress it. Just change the extension to txt and you can upload it that way. I was hoping for the XML just before you sync back up so I can double check the last playback time. If there is a bug, it might be that something changed the last playback time on PMS. By looking at the XML just before and after you sync up, I can see if that info changes the right way.
This is a rar files with a few XML together before the sync.
Will upload everything later today

Here we go.
These are the XML before I watched
Before - Last Week Tonight with John Oliver - S06E25 - [1080p WEB-DL h264][monkee].txt (3.4 KB)

These are the logs when I got back on Wifi and forced a Sync
WiFi - plex-log-Tijntje1980.zip (506.3 KB)
These are the current watched states (Simpsons S30E03 has not sycned the wacthed state properly)

These are the Info XML

After - The Graham Norton Show - S24E15 - [720p HDTV x264][FTP].txt (3.1 KB)
After - The Simpsons - S30E02 - [1080p WEB-DL h264][QOQ].txt (3.4 KB)
After - The Simpsons - S30E03 - [1080p WEB-DL h264][Tooncore].txt (3.5 KB)
(I could not upload the After - S30E03 of the Simpsons so I had to manually edit it so it is unique otherwise the forum software just named it Before as it is the identical file)
Thanks for the info. It’ll take me a little while to go through but this really helps.
Any new update on this problem? I also have been having this issue on iOS for years. Really annoying when you’re offline for 23hrw of flights and sync up and it doesn’t show the correct state. Then I have to remember what things I watched in that time and mark them to get them to unsync from my iPad. A fix for this is really needed, please.
Issue still exists.
Last week purchased an Android Tablet and that has the same issue. Had hoped since it only has WiFi and no 4G it might behave better, but it doesn’t.
@anon18523487, let me know if you need more logs.
according to Plex if you don’t like the way the app works use something else, they are not going to fix it.
I have a log for the exact same thing. Silicon Valley is set to sync just unwatched items. After watching the synced episode, it is not removing the episode . plex-log-missionsparta.zip (8.9 MB)
@anon18523487, it’s been over month.
Do you see any issues in the logs?
Let me know if you need more logging from me or @missionsparta
Any update on this? Has been broken for years now. Also still the issue if you delete some files (eg old episodes) the sync breaks. Is there no plan to resolve these long-standing bugs rather than continuing to mess about with the interface instead?
I’ve asked this FOREVER now. More worried about this Tidal crap than the actual purpose of this product.
Sorry. I did find something in your log. It looked like after you finished that Simpsons episode, the status wasn’t actually saved locally on your device. So when you went to resync, there was no “watched” indicator to update PMS. I don’t know why it couldn’t save the status locally. So technically, the watched status is correctly syncing back to the server. You specific issue is that the watched status isn’t being saved locally but only for some videos.
Have you tried recently with the new UNO interface? The way synced media is handled has changed a bit so there is no more offline mode.
I have. Just experienced same issue with new UI.
Any updates here? Would be nice to see this fixed
Nope. App is in a complete chaotic mess and they won’t admit it.
I’m still unable to reproduce. The team will be looking into more sync related issues soon.
Its really sad, after 3 plus years if this your going to look into it “soon”
We cant fix what we can’t find.
I’ts like going to the doctor for pain somewhere in your body. It’s a guessing game of what might be causing it and how to treat it. If you however, break an arm, that’s easy to identify and fix.
I’ve looked through your logs before, and a few others. There is nothing specifically indicating what the status doesn’t update. It is clear you watched it, it is clear the app talks back to your server, it is clear the status is told to update, but something says the status on the server is more appropriate so it uses that instead of the status in the app.
In my case I use a reverse proxy to connect back into my Plex, might that have an effect?
I have no idea as I don’t have much knowledge on reverse proxies. I don’t think it should. As previously mentioned something with the app on your device did not mark the status properly so when it synced to your server, there was no new status to send so it still thought it was unwatched. Your issue is slightly different as it never saved the status properly in the first place. It worked on some but not all so it’s a strange case.
