Watching DVR recording while the content is still live

I have tried to find information about this and have not seen anything.

Scenario is this.

Show starts at 7:00 my wife sets the show to record.

At 7:20 she wants to start watching the show, she has given herself a buffer to skip commercials.

However the recording does not show up under the TV shows library so she cannot watch it there.

When she goes to live TV it will not rewind past the point where she joins the live content.

Is there anyway to watch something live and also utilize the DVR recording to rewind and fast forward?

This is a feature I want as well but Plex can’t do this yet. No word on if/when it will be available.

I was afraid you might say that. That is the one feature (and a proper guide grid) that is making my wife want to pay for cable.

Not cable… You are better off buying a Tivo if your wife wants those two features now. It would pay for itself in no time compared to a cable sub. The Romio was on sale at Amazon this week for $349 and that included the lifetime guide data. The Romio also records up to 4 channels at once. I have both a Tivo and Plex with HDHomerun Extend. The Plex DVR is more of a backup for extra tuner capacity until they work out the 100% recording bug that has been plaguing releases for several months now. The wife much prefers the Tivo between the two devices.
