Watchlist - Language Information Not Available for Every Movie

Does anyone know why Plex doesn’t show what language every film is in?

Movies available for free on Plex seem to have the language information, e.g. Audio: Spanish (Stereo).* Rentals do not show this information. Neither do movies that are unavailable on Plex. IMDB shows the language for every film and that’s where the metadata comes from :person_shrugging:

Even more peculiar, I added a few movies from my own library to the watchlist to see what would happen and the audio says ‘none’ for one and there’s zero info for the other. Like, that information is literally in the file on my server. The inconsistencies for what information is provided where is really strange.

I’ve added a ton of films to my watchlist due to recommendations on Facebook groups. Specifically, gay films, where foreign language seems to outweigh English. The cast and crew are usually a pretty good indicator if a film is in a foreign language. Just a little frustrating when picking a movie to watch while doing chores, or when I can’t be bothered to read subtitles at the end of the day.

Anyone know of a setting, workaround, or extension that would force Plex to display that information?

Movies and Series can be available in a multitude of languages.
There may be an “Original Language” which was used during the production, but that is no indication of which audio languages (or subtitles) are present on any personal Plex server.
Dubbing and subtitling are used often – in some countries they are kinda ubiquitous.
You may have access to several personal Plex servers, and the set of languages available can differ between them for any given title. Because their individual administrators don’t necessarily acquire their content from the same source.

The watchlist doesn’t live on your server.
It’s stored on plex.tv.
The Watchlist has access to the metadata of anything available via plex.tv, but not directly to media on a personal Plex server.
However, if you press the button for any server under “Watch from these locations”, you should be able to see which audio language is available on that particular server.
