Showing Audio Language In Local Language

Hi all,

I’ve got a few foreign language films (to me anyway!) in my library. At the moment, Plex shows the audio langauge in the original language. I.e if it is Spanish it displays Español (see attached jpg).

What I’d like to see is for it to say Spanish. Or Norwegian. Or French. You get the idea…

I’d seen somewhere that this is possible by editing a file, but I can’t remember where I saw this and a Google search doesn’t return anything relevant.

To be clear, the metadata language for my files is correct. I just want the language name to be displayed in English.

Anybody know how this can be done?

Cheers.

FYI - tech details:

Plex Media Server v1.0.0.2261 on Windows 10
Plex Web App v2.7.0
Plex Samsung TV App
Rasplex v1.6.1

Wouldn’t you only select an audio or subtitle track in spanish if you actually understood spanish?
But if you understood spanish, you’d know that ‘Espanol’ means ‘spanish’.

So, why? What is your reasoning?

Some of the films only have a non-English track, so I rip these with burned-in English subtitles. I prefer to listen to the correct audio, rather than badly overdubbed English which I find in a lot of films.

I understand what all the various languages are, but my partner does not. As well as being easier for her to understand at a glance (as she doesn’t really hang around and actually read the synopsis!) I’d just prefer that bit to be in English. I’m picky like that!

Ah, yes. Now it makes sense!

Although, you could rip your movies with audio in english and in original language. So your partner knows that the other language is the ‘original’, no matter what it actually is.

As I said though, some of them only have the original audio and no English.

I’d just like them to display the English name of the original language

Has anyone been able to work round this issue?

I guess not.
