Currently under a movie there generally is “Related Movies” along with other suggestions like movies from the same studios or same actors/actresses. My question is there a way to always have related movies show? Right now it seems if the movie is in a collection it will only show the collection followed by a studio or actor row. I know some movies have multiple rows underneath is there a way to set it so related movies always appears? I personally find it a great way to branch out to other content.
I asked about this years ago. The answer was that basically, the developers feel both hubs/rows would show the same content, so it’s redundant. If I recall correctly, there’s apparently even a line in the code something like “Do not show Related content if in a collection”
My experience has been that unless you have a big collection (“Disney” for example) you get a wider selection of choices from the related hub. A collection of 2 or 3 movies limits the number of related items. A row with just one selected actor or director is not equivalent to the “related movies” row,
I’ve deleted all of my collections because I prefer the choices given in the related movies hub. I’ve also created a few “Smart Collections” using the “Writer” or “Studio” or by adding a label to the movie like “Marvel” or “DC”. Smart collections don’t show up as a collection on the movie information screen.
