WD MyCloud Mirror Gen2 Manual Update

Is there any way to update the Plex app manually for WD MyCloud Mirror Gen2? When i download from the link provided the install fails. Will there be a fix put out soon?

@mikerizzo83 I would like to take a stab at actually answering the simple question you asked, but never seemed to get an accurate answer to. I know the answer because I was in your position recently, and needed to manually update the Plex server on my WDMyCloudMirror(Gen2). It’s quite easy.

1) On your MyCloud web user interface click on the ‘Apps’ icon in the ribbon along the top.
2) After patiently waiting for the Apps window to populate, after the Plex Media Server app displays, click on the** ‘Install Apps’** button on the bottom right of the installed Apps window.
3) The **‘Add An App’ **window will pop up. At the bottom right of the window you will see a link ‘To install app manually, click here’. The word ‘here’ is a link to click. This will pop open a browse window. Navigate to the .bin file update you have downloaded from Plex that contains the server update you wish to install. **Select it in the browse window and click the ‘Open’ button.**Your update should start running, and you should see an ‘Updating’ process start.

I hope that explains the process clearly.

Thank you for your post. Myself, and many more, we are unable to update manually. Once the file uploading reaches the 100% we get the message update failure check your connection.

We have posted the logs but still not an official solution on the issue source. Did you ever experience it? How did you solve it?

I have the same problem while trying to update plex on WD MyCloud Mirror (not the gen2). After clicking ‘open’ for the downloaded bin-file. ‘Updating …’ is promtet on the screen, but after 10 sec. I get the error. ‘Failed to install app. Please check the network connection and try again.’

Perhaps in fact more an issue with WD.
