My android phone Plex app “weak signal” message

I have the same issue on my Nvidia Shield TV, The live channel app works just fine but when I watch live TV with Plex Live TV the channel freezes and I get the weak signal message. I am using the HD Homerun Connect tuners. This appears to be an issue with Plex and not the tuners.

Just tried the new 1.8.2 update for PMS and still get the weak signal message and screen freeze. My tuners work fine with the HD Homerun app and with the live channels app, so I think this is still a Plex issue.

OK, I think I may have found an issue causing my weak signal and screen freeze issues. I have the 16 GB shield and installed one of the recommended Sandisk 128 GB thumb drives to increase internal storage since Plex recommends at least 32 GB of space for live TV cache. With the thumb drive installed I constantly get the weak signal message, however once I remove the thumb drive from the system the weak signal issue goes away and live TV works great.

So now I am wondering if this is an issue within the Plex DVR/Live TV software use of the added internal storage or if I need to use a different option to increase storage. The Live Channels App works smooth with or without the added internal storage so I think maybe this is a bug or something on the Plex end of things. Has anyone else had this same issue or have any suggestions?

I get the 'Weak Signal" on occasion when streaming to other devices within my home. Don’t recall it ever coming up on the Shield itself.

I took the opposite approach by adding a 64GB microSD card and setting it up as adopted storage. It does not fix the problem. I was thinking of getting a USB flash drive, but guess that won’t help since you reporting your issue.

I am however going to look into a USB 3.0 external drive for saving recordings (currently doing it on an ethernet attached WD My Cloud). With the USB 3.0 drive I’ll also point the transcoding folder to a separate folder on that device.

Will report back results.
