Webos Client?

Hi,

Thx for the feedback, i really appreciate it!

I do plan on adding channels, right after the seeking bug(s) are fixed. Once that's fixed, i'm releasing the app in the real (non-beta) catalog and starting work on channels.

webOS version is easily converted to a web app, since it's written in Enyo. No plans on making it a real web app for the browser right now tho.

Again, thx a bunch for the feedback, it's what keeps me going ;)

Hi B0bben,

I want to report an issue about Plex for webOS. When video is paused in Plex and exit, it seems not saving the position to server because when I play the same video again later on, it won’t give me option to resume but just start from beginning without asking. I also have an Android device with Plex installed, if I pause the video there and exit, then use Plex for webOS to open the same video, now the client prompts me to resume. So it appears Plex for webOS is able to retrieve the saved position by Plex for Android. Anyway, just to make sure if it’s a known issue or something new to you. Let me know if there is any fix/workaround.

Thanks for creating this app for webOS which makes the platform more valuable to me and a key reason for me to stay with it.

Hi,

Thx for reporting, i'm gonna fix this in the next release...

Much appreciated it b0bben. If the app is to be made out of beta and appears on HP App Catalog as paid app I will be more than happen to support your work by buying it.

b0bben,

Any luck getting to the bottom of the 45 minute limit on watching shows? I used to work for webOS so if you need help getting your bug reports to the right people let me know.

Hi,

That's one of two last outstanding bugs that's haunting me.
I've done all I can by poking some ppl in the dev relations team, but no response on the bug report yet.
You're very welcome to poke someone as well about it.

I'm still not 100% sure it's mediaservers fault, but i'm 80%. Here's a bug report i posted to enyo forum, together with an example app https://developer.palm.com/distribution/viewtopic.php?f=109&t=19833
Plz try it and see if it b0rks on you around 40min mark (like it does for me, most of the time).

The other bug is around seeking, and i believe it has to do with gstreamer on the device and the way it caches. I'm still investigating it.

One possible, though undesirable, workaround would be to move from a pure Enyo app to a hybrid app and package your own streamer player. If you want to go that route and need help let me know I've written streamer on webOS apps before. Another hack would be to catch when this happens and just restart the video from the crash point, media server should restart if it crashes.

I'll talk to some folks and see if I can help. There's not a lot of people who know the media server left there, though.

Good news. I recently upgraded to webOS 3.0.6 and Plex Server 0.9.6.1 and I can now play movies and TV shows longer than 45 minutes! Sadly, I upgraded all of my devices before realizing the bug was fixed so I can't say whether it is a change in webOS or a change in Plex that fixed the problem.

In discovering this I ran into another bug, though. That is that when a show or movie plays to the end the screen goes white and there's no way to go back to the main Plex UI. I'm forced to quit and restart the app.

Still, this is great news.

Ok, so question nr 1: where the hell did you get 3.0.6!!!
Question nr 2: See q nr 1 :D

Plex for webOS is now live in the real AppCatalog.

Happy pr0n-watching everyone!

Ok, bought it. Go easy on the beer :)
You should do some self promotion on webOScentral to gain new users.
Also, a changelog would be most welcome.

Thanks for developing the webos client Bobben.

Sadly I cannot see any content through your client.

The server is picked up in preferences but no content is being listed through your app.

The same server happily works with the android client.

Server runs off my ubuntu 12.04 machine.

Is there some low level debugging or logging facility build into the app?

my Touchpad Plex client isn’t seeing my plex server. I changed my fios router, but it has my plex ip address and port in the port forwarding section of the router utility. Am I missing something? Tia.

There is no PLEX app in the catalog…is there a place I can get it?

Hi,

I've converted the Plex app to free (instead of paid). It can take a couple of days before it shows up again. Not the most smooth process on HP/Palm side.

are channels available now?

the 7.3 version cant find my plex server. i went into the settings and no servers appear.

Hi,

That's weird, there weren't any code changes for 0.7.3, just increased version nr 'cause of open-sourcing.
What's your PMS version? Try this from your TouchPad web browser: http://YOUR_LOCAL_IP_TO_PMS:32400/servers
So if your PMS is at IP: 192.168.1.100 then http://192.168.1.100:32400/servers

You should see all your PMS servers there (including the one you're accessing)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I just discovered Plex, and NEVER in a million years thought there’d be an (amazing!) Plex client for WebOS!!! WOW, Thank you a million times, thank you!!

i <3 my TouchPad!

PMS is at 0.9.6.9. Tried going onto server (both http://YOUR_LOCAL_IP_TO_PMS:32400/servers and http://YOUR_LOCAL_IP_TO_PMS:32400/) from WebOS browser but it only shows a blank white page. Weird thing is 0.7.2 shows PMS fine.
