webOS recording DVB-T subtitles

I’m seeing a strange issue with recordings from FTA TV in Australia where subtitles are always displayed on recordings. I had a look but couldn’t find anything similar, apologies if I missed it. Symptoms are:

  1. Record FTA tv, and then play episode in native format (direct play).
  2. Subtitles/Captions are displayed on the playback stream. If I choose the language/subtitles option to try and turn them off, subtitles are already displayed as off. DVB_TELETEXT is shown as an option, but selecting this causes the stream to fail.

Client version is 5.26.3
Platform version is 4.9.0

The only way to get the file to play without the DVB-T based captions is to transcode the file from its original to 720p (or other). In that situation the video plays without captions. However, selecting the captions on a transcoded stream will still cause the transcoder to exit with an error.

Not sure what logs would assist, but I’ve downloaded the bundle from the server.

I am seeing a similar thing with dvb-tv in Australia. I can confirm that a transcode removes the subtitles.

I fixed this by setting ad removal to cut and remove ads rather than identify ads and mark for skip.

It’s not the preferred method, as I’d like to keep the file intact and just skip ads. Hopefully someone from Plex will respond to this issue.
