As the title suggests, I’m having some weird streaming issues locally across my wired network. Everything is gigabit and I have a substantial router to handle this kind of traffic. I’m streaming from my plex server to my local PC but I’m having weird buffering and video stutter issues that randomly pop up and then go away.
Plex Server:
Intel 4770k with 32GB of DDR3
512GB Intel Pro SSD for local storage
Currently setup with CPU transcoding
Redundant Gigabit connection to my local SAN setup in a RAID5 with zero disk/latency issues.
Desktop I’m streaming to:
Intel 7700k
16GB DDR4
2 x 250GB M.2 drives in RAID0
Enabled verbose logging to take a look at the transcoding speed just to make sure it isn’t something simple and the logs show my transcode speeds are always above 80.0 (80.0 was the lowest transcode speed I could find where it’s consistently around 95.0-105.0 with a peak of 128.5)
Is my setup overkill? Yes. Do I care about that? No. haha.
According to my routers logs I don’t have any drops in connectivity between my server and my desktop.
According to my SAN I don’t have any drops in connectivity between my server and the SAN.
Before anyone asks, the SAN is not actually on the same network as the rest of my devices, it is completely segregated physically from my LAN.
I’m super confused as to why I’m having these random playback issues.
Has anyone had a similar issue and can point me in the right direction?
Another weird thing, streaming to a Roku or anything similar has zero issues. It only seems to be via chrome web that this issue occurs.
