What about advertising?

Is there a way to know if a program (movie or other) will have ads without just playing it and seeing?

Thanks

  • If you’re streaming from a Plex online media source (video on demand, live tv streaming) — those will have ads
  • If you’re streaming from your own or a shared library — no ads
  • If you’re looking at the Where to Watch hub of items using Plex‘ Discover feature, it’ll depend on what streaming provider you’re selecting.

Thanks. I suppose I should have been more specific. I saw a movie that was available on Plex and could not tell if it would have ads. I ran it for 30 minutes and saw no ads. Should I infer from this that movies available on Plex are ad free?
Thanks, again.

No, you shouldn’t.

Edit:

The movie being available on Plex‘s video-on-demand doesn’t mean that’s where you streamed it from.
