I have never seen this before. I have plex pass and I just had an advertisement pop up when I tried to watch a video from my library. Should this be happening?
Plex does not play ads before your media.
Make sure you did not accidently pick the video on-demand version, which does have ads.

If I had to guess, I’d say you clicked on a Holiday Merrython hub.
There are several of these on the front page. One for each pinned movie library. If you have pinned the Plex on-demand library, you will see at least two of these hubs.
You might simply have picked this movie from the hub that is connected to the on demand streaming library.
This is a good example of plex’s advertisement via stealth.
Plex are continuing to integrate new features fronting their own cloud based TV services. Be it seasonal hubs, discover, watch list or cast credits.
Folks can easily select something they think is on their library but end up playing something from the plex cloud. Plex will say, you selected our cloud link so its your fault. You need to be careful what you select in plex these days.
For those who frequent these forums this type of topic has become more and more common.
Would you please stop riding this horse? It is nonsense.
Nothing is stealthy. Just unpin the VoD source and the hub is gone.
