I was just wondering, generally, how Plex is being used by most people.
- Are they using it on their phones, tablets, TVs, the web, or PlexAmp.
- If more than one device, which is the most used?
- Do people mostly use one device for a particular media type?
- Are people mostly using Plex for watching their own movies?
- Is music as big a part of people’s Plex experience (as it is mine)?
I mean, personally, I’d hate to watch movies on my phone - that’s what my Apple TV is for. But I know a lot of people, probably younger people(?), only have a phone to enjoy their content on. Or maybe they’re watching it on the train or a plane or something.
I use PlexAmp on my computer while I’m working all day and sometimes on my phone when I’m driving. After work, I might sit down to watch a movie on my Apple TV. On the weekend or late night, I might watch the built in streaming content on my tv. Sometimes I’ll browse my library from my phone if I’m having a conversation with someone about content.
I’m also really curious about the ratio of Plex users who exclusively / almost exclusively use the platform for themselves in their own home versus those who use it to share the experience with others. I’m often shocked by the number of comments I see about the shared experience (people must have incredible ISP service).
Does Plex have this information? Has it been mentioned or made public? Has there ever been any sort of poll? Ooooh, you can do polls here
I can make some assumptions about the big numbers - I’m really curious about the outliers. What do the small numbers tell us?
