Plex Media Player was running ok with this config until last upgrade. My media was and still is on the RAID non-C: drive and I have made appropriate changes to the registry and followed the directions as before.

I have been trying to get the Plex Media Server to work correctly for the last 5 days. Now I’m stuck in the “claim server” Dante circle and my libraries are not retrieving any metadata. Movies are pointing to The Movie Database, TV pointing to TheTVDB. Music is pointing to Last.fm with option to get metadata locally if available.

Have tried virtually everything in the forum and what I could google. Have done a complete uninstall including registry, windows appdata and program files, cleared plex specific data from libraries, changed computer name, changed friendly name, removed authorized devices, and used utilities to completely clear everything before attempting reinstall or repair.

Have rebooted after each change. Have deleted and rebuilt libraries multiple times. Checked router settings and they are ok. Turned off VPN, ExpressVPN, although Plex was working with this before the upgrade.

Sometimes the Plex Media Software is able to return metadata from the agents but not usually.

Again, Plex Media Server WAS working great. Now it doesn’t. Please advise on best course of action.

Are you having trouble claiming your server or getting movies to match?

Both. I have a feeling if the claim server problem is resolved then the media matches will take care of themselves either automagically or via rescan media or refresh metadata. I forgot to mention the remote also stopped working but that is down the list for now.

To claim the serve, make sure you are accessing the bundles Plex Web that comes with PMS. If you are on the same machine running PMS, use

http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html#!/

If you are on another machine, replace the IP above with the IP of your machine, 192.168.1.2.

Thank you for your quick response and suggestions. Alas, no joy. I’m gonna stop the try for the time being and when I’m a little less frustrated. The last time I had issues; I went away for a couple of months and voila! reinstalled and everything ran great. Also, I just don’t feel like going through my backups and recovering the last system set where everything was working. Thanks again for the help.

Claiming a server, especially for Windows, is quite easy. There’s only a few thing that can stop it. If you feel like trying, just let me know.
