What content provider to use for purchasing movies / tvshows for use in Plex

Hello all. My question is this. What content provider will allow you to download purchased content and put it into your Plex environment. For example, I have purchased content from Amazon, but can only watch it through Amazon client. I want to be able to download my purchased content and watch it i Plex. Is that possible? I assume Apple will only let you use Apple software.

Downloaded / streamed content is usually ridden by DRM.
Plex can not use these files. It needs un-encrypted video files to work.
The best source for Plex content is still your DVD and BluRay dealer. Or your digital video recorder.

I don’t know of any legitimate online store you can buy movies/shows that doesn’t have drm on it.

GoG is the only place I know of that offers a DRM free movie selection. Mostly video game related content/documentaries

Hint: you aren’t “purchasing” the content when you do that. You’re paying a one-time fee to “rent” it under super-restricted license to only play on a tiny subset of devices for whatever amount of time the company that took your money feels like letting you, or until the company closes up shop, whichever comes first.

This is why physical media isn’t dead.

LoL for “Content Provider”…mine always sends me red thank you cards in the mail every week or 2…these ppl are very polite and very interested how happy you are with their service.
I usually fill out their survey and send it back (or stack em for use as assnapkins)

Lol…this is why I was amazed that people here weren’t in a tizzy when Slysoft got shut down. These two products are so joined at the hip

You need to rip your dvds or blurays

For digital content purchases, I typically use Amazon. I like having my stuff all in one place, but when I want this owned content on my Plex server, I use another tool called PlayLater from PlayOn. Works well. The vast majoity of the time, my Plex content is via my DVDs for backups.
