What do you use as Plex Media Server ?

Home built machine, i7-3770, 32gb ram, 16gb usb, running ESXi 6. I allow the PMS server 2 vcpus and 3gb ram running Windows 10 1607. Run fine for my use, but we mostly watch in the home and rarely have to transcode video.

Lenovo I7 Thinkpad
16gig ram
256gb SSD
40TB HDD storage

Server is up 24x7

I have never determined power usage but with that commitment I do not think it matters

I stream to 2 Roku 4s. Xbox 360, PS3 and several Android/IOS devices on the local network.

Someone around here is always watching something on some device LOL

I also have about 25 Remote users from Coast to Coast in The US here.

Sooo… The thing needs to be on 24x7 regardless of the cost or what’s The Point???

The SSD is installed not so much for application speed or boot speed but for Transcoding speed.
I have configured Plex to use the SSD as the Temp Transcode drive.

With this configuration I have successfully been able to stream up to 7 concurrent transcode streams at once.

Wait, what? How did you switch the metadata to the MicroSD?

Made the sd Adopted storage the shield then treats it as internal

Not that easy. Plex acknowledged we can’t use adopted storage yet, except some users reporting they could do it with root and some symlink apps
