What happened to Playlists on Roku?

When I first started using Plex long ago, you could press play or shuffle inside any subfolder in a Video library.

A few years ago this was broken, or intentionally stupified like this new update, and you could only press play from the main root of the library. Inside any subfolders you had to play files individually.

Due to this feature?/bug? i had to start making playlists to play the contents in individual subfolders without playing everything in the library.

For example in my TV Shows library, each show has its own folder, some shows even have more subfolders for each season.

My children and aged parents could barely understand how to navigate the Plex app to begin with, these playlists made it easier for them to find what they wanted and for my autistic children they can just start a playlist and let it go without the need for further interaction.

Since you all for some ungodly reason decided to remove playlists from the Roku app it has become completely unusable for my family. Unless I wanted to make individual libraries for each show, which I have no intention of doing it will not be using it for my family again unless you add them back.

I could go on about how almost every other feature of this new app update is complete garbage, like the fact that when you leave a library, instead of going back to where you were in the library list it brings you back to the home screen, which i have never used for anything other than getting to my libraries.

Really though I am sure I could learn how to navigate in this more complicated and overbearing new layout if playlists still existed. Without them however I will be searching for a new media server and eventually deleting this app.
Even though I paid for a lifetime subscription over a decade ago, I kind of feel like I deserve a refund since you completely ruined what had been a great app for so long.
I really can not comprehend what you all were thinking when you released this design. The entire design team deserves to be fired without severance and blacklisted from any further design jobs for life. You all might as well have just released Windows Vista, or WIndows 8. It is definitely the worst thing I have seen in my years of using the app and probably will go down as one of, if not the worst thing you have ever released. I hope you all realize this and fix this horrid mistake or at least give people the option to roll back to the functional version until you get this new version fully functional.

It is very sad to see such a good thing get destroyed by such a stupid update. I hope you all realize that your users are more important than some stupid executives who doesn’t use the app as a media server.

Please fix this terrible thing you have done to what used to be a wonderful app.

I don’t use playlists at all but from reading other forum posts, I believe playlists are now found in the libraries…

Not on my Roku app they are not. They are still on my server, but they are not in my libraries on the roku app. But the playlists have always been in the libraries on my server and that is also where they used to be found on the Roku app before Plex decided to destroy it, maybe that’s what you are thinking of.

When you say that your playlists are not there, do you mean that they’ve actually been removed or just that you haven’t found the button for playlists where they buried it in this horrible new interface? When you go into one of the libraries that your playlist draws from and then go over to the stupidly small icons on the left side and click on the one that eventually says “collections”, does your playlist(s) not show up at that point?

Wow they are there. Thanks for that info, however this idiotic placement of the playlists makes them unusable for anyone in my family but me. My parents had a hard enough time using them when they were on the home page. I doubt i could explain to them how to find them now. My children are slightly more tech savvy and after a handful of tries where they fail and have to ask me again how to do it they could probably figure it out.

Even then though, why intentionally make things more difficult to find and less user friendly by burying our most commonly used feature somewhere inside a hidden labyrinth instead of leaving them on the home page where they are easily found?

I am over this and will be searching for a replacement media server app to use. Plex this is extremely disappointing.

Unles syou were intentionally trying to alienate the users who used your app as a media server and really only want people who use your apps to stream other apps this move is horrible. Even if that was your intention this move was horrible. How many people would actually use an app that makes it harder to stream what you want. seems stupid to me.

I hope that you all get a clue and fix this bs some day.

It seems strange to me that in a world where everyone is trying to make things more accessible for those who have problems doing things that you all would intentionally make this app less accessible for people who have Hard time using it. Even for people who are not technologically inept you’ve added extra steps to do what used to be simple things. I don’t understand why a company would intentionally make something more difficult to use and think that out is somehow a good idea. You all deserve to go bankrupt
