I was wondering why Plex removed the Shuffle function from the mobile app? I used to love to Filter on a genre, and shuffle. I know that you can use the artist radio feature, but it doesn’t seem to function quite the same. It will eventually stray from what I started with (if that makes any sense). For example, if I select Van Halen, and click the artist radio button, it will start out with similar artists like Ozzy, Judas Priest then eventually move to Death Metal which is a far cry from where it started and I have that categorized appropriately in my genres. But since I can no longer filter by genre and use shuffle it doesn’t stick to playing only the artists in the genre I am filtered on. I wish Plex would bring the shuffle button back. Also, if Plexamp could filter by genre and have a shuffle feature added in addition to the artist radio function that would be great!

It looks like shuffle is only at the album level now. I prefer to shuffle at the genre or artist level (shuffling all albums by a given artist).
Yes, I mostly play albums but sometimes I just want to play my whole collection on shuffle and all those controls are gone. I asked if a staff or moderator would reply if it was a bug or a change and I’ve not had a reply now for a week.
What version of the app are you using?
Running the latest public 8.1.2 I still see the shuffle button.
It is version 8.2.0.18361 which is the Beta version.

I can confirm that Beta 8.2.0 is missing the shuffle button. Likely a bug. I will let the team know.
You can still hit play, and then shuffle from the playback menu.
On the Artist details screen, Play will shuffle. If you want to Play All in order there is an action for that in the overflow.

Ah, from the library screen it must have been broken in the beta recently. Will fix it before the release of 8.2.

I see how that works but what I would ultimately prefer is a shuffle at a higher level. Because if I want to play “Punk Rock” on shuffle there is currently no way to do that any longer. I used to be able to use the filter function by genre then click shuffle but it no longer appears here.
My shuffle button is back! Yay!!
So after reading the post on my topic from Wingless8625 and since your post report the problem solved… and getting excited I immediately updated and updated the plex media server too when the app wouldn’t reopen without crashing… Several painstaking days later of troubleshooting, reboots, log-outs followed by log-ins in a very specific order I am pleased to agree that the android app is now working and the crucial missing buttons have reappeared

I think it should run nice for a while now but this android app is soooo fussy and frustrating, I will update if there are any more dramas. If anybody involved with plex is reading this, I think it is fair to say that Plex Android App doesn’t like WD Mycloud NAS drives. Both the drive and plex media server function fantastic together and individually but the android app has the power to crash both, these crashes were severe enough that they were hard to resolve and at one point I thought the NAS drive would never reboot.
