What is a "promoted playlist"?

Continuing the discussion from Plex for Roku:

What is a “promoted playlist”? Promoted by whom? Plex Inc.? Promoted by admin? By any user?

And how to promote such a thing?

Hi guys,

as these were direct questions to Plex employees in direct quotation of Plex’ own info, I would be happy to have some official info on these.

Can somebody please shed some light on what promoted playlists are and how to promote them?

Is that something that Plex will force-push upon us Roku users / all users? And if not, can PMS owners/admins promote playlists for the users of their PMS?

Plex API documentation does not have any info on that, too.

So just like before with pinning, Playlists is a source again and can be favorited. Once favorited, like pinning, it’s sorted position will dictate where in the Home hubs you’ll see your Playlist hubs. “Promoting” is utilizing the our library recommendations feature as described here.
