Evening, I’m new to all this stuff and i had decided to get a Kodi box so i coudl watch box sets and other tv programs from other coutnries, but a friend of mine , who is clued up on this sh7t , said Plex is the way forward now, but reading all the FAQ’s and looking into it, i can’t see what it actually does, it does keep mentioing my media, what is this as i have nothing on my laptop, also if i do buy and have it installed on my laptop, and i understand about wifi and such, but how do i go about watching box sets and films and other tv channels?
Many questions but if this is the way forward and i can understand it, then im there.
Thanks
I have read that but it didn’t answer my questions, but thanks for the reply…
At a high level, it’s not that unlike Kodi. It provides you with a central place (the Plex Server) from which you can serve your media to your clients.
There’s a range of other things it can do too. It supports uploading photos (and video) from iOS and Android devices, there’s the new DVR beta, and more. It doesn’t provide you with ways of watching live TV, streaming media from online sources and so on (well, there are some Channels that support bits of that, but they’re not official, don’t work on all clients and may break without warning).
If there are specific things you want to know you’ll have more luck getting answers to those than vague “why is Plex better than X” questions.
Kodi allows easy access to media stolen by others whereas with Plex you must either buy the media or steal it yourself.
