The system usage is always higher than plex media server. CPU usage of both bump up to nearly 100% when I try to transcode even a 1080p to 720p with server being WD MyCloud PR2100 NAS
System refers to the overall system CPU & RAM usage. Other services outside of Plex can increase this line when they’re using CPU & RAM.
Plex Media Server is the CPU & RAM usage caused by Plex.
When transcoding, it’ll use a lot of resources from the CPU so explains why you see 100%

I have seen reviews of PR2100 saying it can easily transcode 3 to 4 1080p streams (not getting to 4k transcoding!). However the experience is much smoother with hardware transcoding option disabled
Now that’s a bummer!
