CPU 100% viewing movies on Plex Server

Recently, On my Plex Server, when playing movies, Plex takes up 100% of CPU. This normally did not seem to happen until this most recent release.

Looking at processes in task manager:
Plex Media Servier (32 bit) 23.7%
Python (32 bit) 22.1%
Plex Media Server DLNA Service (32-bit) 20.7%

These processes vary up to 25% taking up about 70% to 80% of CPU. The other percentage is background windows apps.

Is there any reason or anything I can look at to determine why Plex is taking up to 80% CPU?

Thanks, JW

What OS? What version of Plex Server?

Windows 10 and Version 1.5.5.3634
I just restarted it and the Plex Transcoder is running over 50%.

There’s a newer version available on Plex Pass. I would download it from this website, then shut down the Plex Server application (check the task manager and make sure all related processes are killed), then run the installer. See if that works.

This will depend on the video you are watching. If PMS is transcoding, it can take up 100% of your CPU. IF you are not actively watching a video, it could be a background process such as the Media Optimizer, Mobile Sync, or index generation.
