What is the deal with Ads on Plex when watching my own content?

I have noticed recently that when I start MY OWN CONTENT streaming from my server, on which I have a lifetime Plex Pass, I am served up two ads before MY OWN CONTENT plays. I have no issue with ads on the free streaming channels, but I have a problem with having to watch ads to see MY OWN CONTENT. I think I made my point in bold. My content, I should not have to watch any ads. How can I stop this behavior?

Are you certain that you were not watching a title you have in your content but was actually hosted through the Plex VOD? That Free On Demand offering sneaks into your ‘Continue Watching’ as well as search results if you do not disable it. There has been a lot of chatter about this recently – Why am I now seeing advertisements in my PERSONAL library while watching my content?

I was sure, but…

The content is a DVD ripped file that has no ads sitting on my server. (which is very near me at the moment.) I am logged into my account, on a Roku box, I select my content, and watch the DVD content. This has just started happening, but the video was delayed for a short series of ads at the start, and now getting interrupted at what seems like random times and inserts 1 to 3 minutes of ads that I cannot skip.

But I will check to be sure that is not the reason. It would explain a lot about these annoying ads. Thanks for the pointer… Thanks for the pointer.

Seems I had a few services on and I am guessing that show was available on one of those. I have tuned them off and that seems to have caused the ads to end (so far.) That is a very annoying preference, I would like to use streaming, but would rather my content have priority.

If someone from Plex staff reads these, can you please consider changing the behavior such that local content ALWAYS takes priority over streaming content when watching a show, and especially when resuming a show at a later time? Having it switch from the previous local file viewing to a streaming service with ads when I come back to resume a show was confusing and annoying at best. Thank you.

Exactly HOW are you resuming a show?
i.e. which pages and hubs are you visiting to do that?
Are you perhaps using the Watchlist or the Discover hub/page?
