What is the location of downloaded media in the new Plex desktop app for Windows?

To be clear, my question concerns the new Plex desktop app for Windows, not Plex Media Player.

When I download a video to my local machine from my Plex Server, where is it stored? Can I change the location? In my case, I would prefer to store the media on a memory card inserted in the laptop. Is it possible to change the location for downloaded video to another drive?

You would need to make a Symbolic Link to have it someplace else.

Thanks much. That’s exactly what I needed.

Symlinks are not a workable solution for 99% of your users. Personally I am part of the 1% that can and have used symlinks in the past, but it still would have been easier if Plex allowed the user to designate the download location, just as it did in the past. That is something that 99% of your users could do, versus an esoteric function like symlinks.

When googled, symlink instructions most commonly involve the windows powershell or command prompt. The average user is neither experienced nor comfortable using the command line.

I would agree that having this functionality built-in would be nice, but in the meantime, how about a simple article explaining how to create a symbolic link for those users not comfortable with this. It’s actually ridiculously easy, so an article would be easy to whip up.
