What’s the best streaming device?

I have a Nvidia shield tube and I’m tired of it crashing when attempting to play 4K stuff, it might take 2 or 3 attempts of it crashing to the Home Screen before eventually working.

Plex within kodi generally doesn’t have this problem, but the interface isn’t as good as the native app.

Is a shield pro the solution or are there better alternatives. I need it to pass trueHD etc so that my underpowered plex server doesn’t have to transcode anything.

If you are not Worried about profile seven Dolby vision and audio passthrough then an Apple TV would direct play all videos. It uses the MPV player.

I pass Dolby vision now so I’d prefer to keep that too.

I use the shield pro and have now issues and can play anything I throw at it.

Cheers, sounds like that’s the way to go.

The tube crashes for me multiple time when trying to play a 4k remux with hdr etc. Doesn’t happen in kodi though.
