Hi evereyone
I hope you’ll help me decide what route to go.
Been Plax Pass member for years.
Currently I have a mac mini 2012 (with attached harddrives for my media), running my plex server, it’s controlled via my imac/share screen.
Mac mini is connected to my homenetwork, cabled, and I have an ATV 4 k connected to my television, on. Which I run plex media player, also have Fusion installed on ATV 4k.
My wish is, that I would like to play the full audio on movies, ie. Dts.HD master and so on, that is not possible with my setup, due to apple.
Therefor, I ask you, what will be the absolute best AND stable hardware, to do this?
Is a Nvidia shield pro, with attached hdd, the way to go, ie one controlled by my imac, and one attached to my tv, as player?- would that work?
Or will it be better with a NAS/ NUC as NAS, new Mac mini as NAS, and a Nvidia shield Pro attached to the tv, or do you have another suggestion?
Now and then, the server is used remotely/away from home.
Thx
Have you considered attaching your Mac Mini via HDMI to the TV and use e.g. Plex HTPC (optionally running through your AVR). IIRC, the HTPC app should be able to passthrough the audio through HDMI.
Hi tom80H, no I haven’t, and never heard of the htpc app🤔, will definetly look into it. My only problem with this, is that I don’t think I have the space for the Mac mini, behind my tv/soundcenter….
Thx Tom for your suggestion, “I’ll be back”
