I was going to get a Synology DS224, but it turns out it doesn’t do wifi. Would Plex server run ok for a minimal setup plugged into a wifi extender? It’s just me for music and occasional video. If not, what’s a good NAS that does have WIFI? 4K transcoding would be nice, but it is not a deal breaker. Currently the router is in the lounge, and I want to keep the NAS in another room.
I should have said that the router is in the lounge, and I want to keep the NAS in another room. So the only thing to plug it into is the socket on the extender. I asked on the synology forum, and they said things like “You also need to take into account that any extender will cut the speed in half as they are half-duplex devices.” At the moment I’m running a PI5 and that is fast enough over WIFI.
I highly recommend not running your server over wifi. This never turns out well.
