When adding media, Plex automatically adds outdated pictures

I’m using Plex on my Windows PC, and I have a library set up for Audio Books as a music folder. I update the metadata on each file, and embed a graphic using iTunes before adding this to the library. It works well for the most part, and I have my library set to use local data instead of downloaded data.

However… when I add some books, Plex will drag up some random image from the depths of history and use this as the graphic. I’ve cleared the cache, deleted the library, started again… it still happens. Can anyone tell me why and also how to stop it happening again?

Thanks,
S

If Plex has trouble reading the local embedded image, or if it is the wrong type, it will resort to online sources.

I assume the audio files are .mp3? If so, are the embedded images marked as cover images (as opposed to Artist, for example)? If the book is in multiple mp3 files, make sure the image is embedded in the first track of the book (Plex may look in later tracks if it isn’t in the first, but I’m not certain of that).

Have you tried removing the embedded image, and re-adding it to the file?
