I’m preparing to carry out a clean install of Windows, but I’ve spent a long time customising my plex films, mainly changing the poster art, background and the ‘Sort Title’ field.
My C: is my Windows drive where plex is installed and my G: drive is where my media is, but I also have my temp directory located on an F:. However, it’s only the C: that’s going to be re-installed.
I’ve linked an article below that describes the folders you have to copy, however, I recently changed the drive where the media is stored (G) from a 2tb - 6tb and when I did, I had to change all my poster art and Sort Titles even though nothing was touched on the C: drive, which seems to contradict the article below.
I need to make sure I do this right as it will take me hours to sot my media and I really don’t want to have to do that again. Can anyone give me some tips on how to do this?
Those instructions are only applicable if you are keeping the setup the same. i.e. same install folder, same media folders, etc. If you make a change in any of these those instructions won’t be correct. You will need to make modifications, but what they are will depend on what changes you make to the setup.
So it sounds like if I’m going to re-install windows it’s not just as simple as backing up certain folders from my C: drive in order to keep my modifications even if the drive my media is stored on isn’t going to change? The media will stay on the same drive in the same structure with the same drive letter, its only the C drive that will be formatted.
