Where can one see if Plex Media Server is transcoding

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252
Player Version#: Varios, Latest Apple TV4, Web and IOS (latest), Apple TV3 (via tralier App), Linux Standalone Pleax Player 4.29.2

I would like to see on the server web interface it a music stream is being transcoded or not. If I click on the activity button within the server;s web interface, I see a dashboard, what is currently playing, however there is no indication as fas as I can see if the stream is being transcoded or not

Kind Regards
Gerhard

Click the details (hamburger) button on the right side of the show that is now playing.

If you have a Android, Apple Tablet or Phone try Dash as you have a Plex pass. It’s part of the subscription so no further cost.

https://www.plex.tv/plex-labs/

Another app is Varys for Plex, very comprehensive control of PMS, but not Free for best.

Pro is $3.99

I have both and they will help you administer your server.

Hi

Do you mean the rectangle with two line under it (the angular hamburger with the missing bottom bun missing)?
This show direct play for the video and direct play form the sound for videos.
However for music, FLAC files, all it shows: “Unknown (FLAC Stereo)”
So I have no idea if it is being trans-coded.

Kind Regards
Gerhard

Played with Plexamp or the regular mobile Plex app?
Plexamp will tell you right in the player which audio codec it is playing. If it says “flac”, it does play directly without transcoding.
The regular mobile Plex app (at least the one on Android) has “playback info” under the bottom, right ellipsis ⋮ where it does tell you whether the playback is directly or transcoded.
