Not much to add to this one, although I’m sure it’s been asked dozens of times, I just didn’t know where to find the answer. I was cleaning up my Plex server (something that never stops apparently) and I noticed the actor Brian Cox, from Super Troopers, the R.E.D. films, and a slew of other great movies, has the wrong picture associated with his name. Can we change that, where do we report stuff like that, and/or well, I guess that’s all. Thanks! Added a screenshot, this is a different RED film than the more popular series, still stars Brian Cox.
Have you UNMATCHED it then use the IMDB tag tt1821694 to apply it that way?
The movie is matched correctly, it’s just the actor’s picture that’s incorrect. His picture is incorrect in every other film he stars in, that I have on Plex too, I probably should’ve stated that.
This is the correct Brian Cox
Sorry for double posting so much.
Which agent are you using for your libraries (movie and TV). If you force a refresh on that movie does the actor profile change?
FYI… Actor profile pics are shared between libraries so it could be coming from a TV show as an example.
EDIT: I just checked on my server and the right imagine is displaying for a different movie he is in (I don’t have that RED one myself). However, I’d be fairly confident a force refresh on the movie will fix it which means its most likely coming from something else (I’d guess a TV show or old legacy library using the old agents).
Ah, yes. This is annoying AF and as far as I know, actor images aren’t editable. I don’t use NFO files but I am wondering a work around is possible. I hope someone can chime in with a method to override this.
I don’t know if you saw my other post, but it’s the same picture in every other movie I have of him, which is a lot apparently, I must like movies with Brian Cox. I have Chain Reaction also, and it’s the wrong picture. How does one do a force refresh?
EDIT 1: Figured it out and that did the trick, guess I’ll have to do it for all of his films though,
EDIT 2: Soneone just pulled the fire alarm at my college, I wonder why? Anyways, it fixed it for all of his films. Thanks!
Right, images are shared across your plex server so whatever you have will appear everywhere.
Nope. Whatever your last refresh was will now be used but the image probably came from somewhere else so whenever that gets refreshed it’ll return.
I’d encourage you to update your library agents if you have not already. That should ultimately fix it for good.
Hey I’m back, got a different, but similar issue this time around. There are two actors with the same name (Jim Cummings) and it’s associating them with the same “account” and picture again. Should I just do a force refresh again? One of them is a voice actor, he does Winnie The Pooh’s voice, the other is a screen actor and indie director. Thanks for any help, screenshot provided again. The picture associated with the account is for the Actor/Director guy, not the voice over actor, he looks much older.
Exactly the same issue as above. Just refresh the movie to update it. This is how it appears on my server.
What I typically do is approx once a week do a full force refresh of my libraries. I do the TV library first and then the movie library. That way as movie is done last it will have the most accurate profile pics. I’m also using the new agents which I cannot remember you confirming you have switched to.
Your right – I see that too myself. Jim Cummings is getting mixed up on the plex side. Interestingly if I check Search results for "Jim Cummings" | Plex is where to watch your movies and TV I see the two avatar pictures.
Maybe @adriana or @drzoidberg33 could take a look if they have time. I’m guessing the two profiles have been linked somehow in the plex backend.
OK Good, so it’s not just me, this is just a rare circumstance?
I’ve noticed oddities from time to time but they do appear rareish.
@skylinetturbo looks like this has been fixed with version 1.25.0.5220. I manually refreshed both the movies above with the two Jim Cummings and the avatars are now correct for both.
EDIT: Completed a full refresh of my TV and Movies libraries and it looks to be working well…

I am getting James Caan the entrepreneur who use to appear on the TV show “Dragons Den” in the UK, instead of the actor on Elf and The Godfather in my library. James Caan - IMDb
Have you done a refresh of the metadata? That would be needed. It’s the correct avatar for me on this movie.
That fixed it Thanks
