Where does Plex pull its Live TV providers?

I’m the local (university) person who manages a university contract with a cable provider. We have a custom channel lineup through that provider and (we, the university) are listed as a Cable Service when you put the local zip code in to the Plex Live TV configuration.

We recently changed cable providers. When you select the university, Plex downloads the info that matches the lineup from my previous provider (it’s been 10 months since I switched). I have checked, and we are correct on Zap2IT, but not on TVGuide.com . I’ve asked the provider to correct this.

Does Plex pull from one of these? I can’t imagine that the previous provider sent our info to Plex, so it must be pulled from somewhere else that I can push the update. Again, we are listed as a cable service, the resulting download is just incorrect.

It will help if you look for “EPG” instead of “Live TV” provider

Plex uses an EPG provider, and that provider will need to get the new information. They’re also in the process of changing EPG providers, so that may complicate things.

Thanks. Searching “EPG” doesn’t provide much more information, but I appreciate the clarification on proper terminology. Plex must be pulling the EPG for my university from somewhere that is incorrect (remnant of my previous cable provider) If I could identify that source, I can work with my current cable provider to make sure that source has the correct information. Is that documented somewhere?

I could probably reach out to my prior provider to see where they send EPG information. I know the send to Zap2It and TVGuide. There must be others - one of which is what Plex pulls from.
