I have Plex Media Server running on a QNAP NAS and a Windows 10 machine. I’m also using the DVR Beta with a HDHomeRun Prime as well as using Plex Media Player for both devices. When I setup the DVR to record there is an option on the drop down menu to choose which directory to save the recording. The file structure for the NAS & Windows platform are completely different. Currently when setting up to record on the NAS the libraries shown are those from the Windows platform. When it then records it’s unable to move the recording to the specified directly because it doesn’t exist on the NAS. How can I specify a directory on the NAS & Windows platform separately?
Where does the DVR record option find the directories in the drop down window when setting up to rec
Why don’t you just use the Windows computer for recordings? You can have a script setup to move recordings to the NAS if that is where you want everything stored.
The settings are configured in the Library. Edit the Library and there is an Add folders section. You can add a folder on the NAS. Curious though why your NAS Library is setup with only the Windows computer folders.
The NAS runs 24-7 and is always connected to the internet, the windows computer is not. I can access it home or anywhere I have internet access. The Windows computer does not run 24-7 and isn’t really meant to run that way. I only use the Windows computer when I’m and watching something that requires heavy duty transcoding since the NAS has problems with that since it’s not as powerful. Apparently you can only choose one file system when Plex DVR is setup and it uses the last one setup. I originally set it up with the NAS and it worked fine, but when I added the Windows computer server it overrode the NAS settings and used the Window ones. I’ve uninstalled the Windows DVR settings and it appears to have defaulted back the the NAS. It would be nice if you could set unique different ones based the server and not globally across them all.
Think we need more information than what is being provided. You had your NAS setup and working as a Plex Media Server then you added a Windows Plex Media Server and it overrode the settings on your NAS PMS? Wouldn’t you just have 2 servers listed to choose from?

This is not the best example but I can switch between my Desktop PMS or Plex Cloud to watch recordings from. Can’t really have DVR configured on the Plex Cloud server but if I had 2 physical servers on my home network I should be able to configure DVR on each separately with their own libraries and storage locations for each library I would think.
I’ve managed to get it working now. However, I’d like to try and recreate the problem I was seeing. It may be related to the HDHomeRun setup. I haven’t got time at the moment to work on it. I’ll get back to you when I’ve had more time to research it.
I reran the HDHomeRun setup and this appears to have fixed the problem. I just needed to do it on both the NAS and Windows machine and making sure I correctly specified where I wanted it installed. You can write this up as ‘User Error’, which is probably your favorite resolution. Thanks for your help.
