Server Version#:1.18.7.2487
Player Version#:16.6.3
You need Plex Media Player for those features:
You can run both - at the same time if you want to.
So whatās the difference between Plex App and Plex Media Player ?? Witch one should I keep ?
If you want TV mode and audio-passthrough, itās Plex Media Player
You can keep both.
Use which ever one you need at the time you need it.
Thatās what I do.
I see the list of the different audio options (AC3, PCM, etc.) - is Pass-Through enabled when the box is checked or unchecked? Thanks!
Checked, of course.
Thanks for clarifying.
It wasnāt quite āof courseā at least for me, as it only shows the audio modes, and a check box. So a check box could mean āpass-through enabledā, or Plex decodes the checked audio modes.
I wanted to make sure I didnāt make a rather simple setting mistake as I canāt get āDolby Digitalā or āAtmosā on my Onkyo receiver to light up (source definitely has these tracks). Even when I play a Dolby Digital True HD 7.1 from Plex, my Onkyo only displays āDolby Digitalā. Any suggestions?
Many thanks for your helping!
This might be caused by MacOS. As I understand it, they actively suppress anything better than these basic codecs from bitstreaming. I donāt know why, or whether this may change with a new version of MacOS.
Sorry for the delayed response with more questions here:
I bought a NUC to run PMP Embedded so I could get these tricky Atmos bits (I use my āoldā MacMini now strictly as Media Server, and for āsimpleā playbacks using PMP for Mac, but for anything āfancyā (2160p or 3D; Atmos; etc.) I switch to my high-powered NUC w/ PMP Embedded.
Used to work all fine with Embedded PMP Version#: 1.1.1 on the NUC (including my Onkyo Receiverās āATMOSā LED lighting up), but after a failed update attempt to Embedded PMP Version#: 2.x I donāt seem to be able to get ATMOS sound nor the LED back working again.
Many, many thanks !
