I want to do a media scan and create a listing of my music movies and TV shows in Plex. I have Plex on a Qnap Nas and I am unable to find plex media scanner.exe anywhere so I can’t use command line edit to search. Can anyone else.?
I use Windows 10 and a Qnap Nas server on my home network.
An *.exe file is a Windows binary file.
The OS that runs on your QNAP, is Linux, and there the binary file is named Plex Media Scanner, and is located in the .qpkg/PlexMediaServer directory of the volume you selected to install it in.
You can only execute that using an SSH session though
And lastly, it can’t be used for seaching as such, so please tell us what you are trying to do here

Install ExportTools from the UAS

Dane22 I have installed export tools and gone through configuration and saved and still don’t get any file in the directory chosen on . Which is C:\Plex Media Export any ideas?
For a start, and as a small test, try an export directory without spaces in it. like c:\ExportTools

Create a share on it, and use it’s path, like /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/ExportTools

Ok I made a shared directory on my Qnap server call exportTools and then update expert tools to save name and still no output. Does the directory need to be DataVol1\exportTools
First of all, Linux is Case sensitive!
So when you created the share, did you type exportTools or ExportTools ?
And you can specify the path as /share/<TheNameOfYouShare>
And note: It’s / and not \

Well I wish I had more success but have followed the instructions and still don’t get any export file. I have set up a folder on both the Nas Drive and on my Windows PC and will multiple attempts/ What is the default location \the file wold be sent and how to I find this location. Thanks for your patience
