Where is this Movie Summary coming from?

Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173

I recently turned on The Last Duel and this is the summary pulled in from the Plex Agent:

Told in three viewpoints: husband’s, rapist, wife’s is very informing. Lots of medieval fighting and court machinations. Jodie Comer, Matt Damon, and Adam Driver are well-cast as three leads. Over two hours long but won’t feel it. Stay for update at end.

I laughed at how terrible the summary was and checked out TMDB. Their summary is completely different, as is IMDB’s. Time to investigate:

Library Settings

  • Scanner = Plex Movie
  • Agent = Plex Movie

Agents Settings

  • Movies Agent set to The Movie Database
  • Movies Agent Priority: Plex Movie (Legacy)>Local Media Assets (Movies)>The Movie Database
  • Plex Movie (Legacy) has “Plot Summary Source” = The Movie Database

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Refresh metadata
  • Fix match

The wacky plot summary that doesn’t match TMDB nor IMDB remains! What’s going on??

I’ve been reading this was a relatively short-lived and indeed weird summary. Don’t remember where but it has apparently been fixed there and should be available when you refresh the metadata for this movie in the next day or two.

So even though it is already updated on TMDB, where the agent pulls from, it makes sense that manually updating it doesn’t pull this newer summary? Is there a delay between the web and the API that the agent is using?

Plex is caching the metadata, otherwise there’d be too many lookups from Plex users at those services. This sync/update usually happens every day – though sometimes it can take up to 2 days depending on when the update happened at the source (e.g. TMDb).

ah, makes sense, thanks!

Nobody actually answered your question, though.

It looks like the original copy was posted to IMDB by a user. I cannot find it in the edit history at TMDB. The IMDB entry was updated after a few days, because the Google cache result is still showing the old amateur copy.

IMDB still hasn’t locked some of the elements of that film which is weird to me. I can delete the plot summary right now with my basic account.
