Why can't Plex on Apple TV playback 1080i but Channels can?

Simple question really. Feeding OSX server with HDHomerun. Interlaced 1080i content plays and records at 50hz (so refreshing at the native 50 times per second, fields not frames in this case) on the Channels app on Apple TV (2021 4K unit) but on Plex on the same box from the same Homerun the same source broadcast it’s only 25hz.

Any reason Plex guys?

After some further testing, Channels can playback recordings made by my Plex dvr in 1080i at 50hz which Plex itself can’t.

So I have to spend $80 a year to playback Plex DVR content?
