Why can't Plex see certain .mp4 files

How come, in this day and age Plex still has problems showing certain .mp4 files in the library?
It loads the folders ok, but the library shows nothing in the folders. Really annoying, has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution?

Thanks for the article @OttoKerner, this explains why files could be getting ignored, but no explanation how to fix it unfortunately. It’s also still a very stupid issue to have after all this time of Plex being in existence in my opinion.

I can’t give you any concrete tips unless I see the actual problem files and folder structure and know what kind of library we’re talking about.

Just keep in mind that Plex is not a folder and file browser. There are plenty of other players out there which do that kind of thing.
