So when I turned on Plex media player, and went to desktop, Plex said “nothing to show” for movie section, Although the tv section was okay. But I only have one tv series there. At the same time, when i went to the “continue watching” section, everything was fine.
Not really sure what issue you’ve experienced or what information you’re looking for?!
Oh, ok. I’ll try again. I am using plex media player on windows 10 desktop computer. I also have plex media server… When i joined plex a few days ago I guess, I scanned what I wanted into Plex for movies and tv. When I turned on Plex yesterday for inhstance, and clicked on Desktop, and went to movies section, it showed the movies that were scanned,
But today when I went to Desktop section of Plex Media player or meda server, Plex said there was nothing to show. So I had to rescan again.
Do you happen to have configured your server to automatically scan the library and empty its trash after every scan?
If the drive holding your media is disconnected while Plex attempts an automatic/scheduled scan it’ll flag the media as missing. Usually this results in a trash-can icon showing on the movie’s poster. However if you also enabled automatic emptying the trash, Plex will instead remove the media from your library.
Check:
- Open
Settings>[Server Name]>Library - Check if
Scan my library automaticallyorScan my library periodicallyare enabled - Check if
Empty trash automatically after every scanis enabled
Personally I tend to recommend disabling automatically emptying the trash on your server – in particular in situations where media drives could easily be disconnected from your server and you have automatic/periodic library scans enabled.
Hi Thank you. No, I did not have either option ticked. I have taken your advice. I have question about trash can, which I wil ask in a seperate post.
