I was watching a movie on my cell phone, closed plex. Then 10 minutes later i wanted to pick the movie back up but get the error message now that my server cannot convert the movie? Why i have not changed anything and i made sure streaming are unlimited so it wont try and convert it. Why did it just happen after i closed the app and started it again? It is just this movie to. I have tried other movies and they work just fine.
I do have the same issue if i open a webpage on my computer and try to run same movie on a non local network.
Edit: It is getting worse, now i cant play any files anymore. What are going on? I have completely restarted the server and plex itself.
I’ve seen this in the past when asking Plex to restart a stream after your server put the HDD to sleep. Apparently the Plex client only notices that are late or aren’t sent fast enough and considers the server isn’t powerful enough to transcode the video in real-time.
For me this usually took 2-3 seconds until the popup was cleared automatically and regular playback resumed.
My drives never sleep. This is something else. Same movie that worked earlier today now wont play. Several other movies experience same issue. I went away from kodi cause i wanted a more solid solution running on my nas. Now i consider going back. This is just not how thing should be, things just dont stop working for no reason.
I would assume this would be more stable then kodi tbh. I will try one last time and reinstall everything and start on the server.
I solved this. I ran a port to my server but that seem to have bin the issue. Cause i got limited to 2mbit which is what happens when plex are in relay connection . So even though my port was opened my asus lyra routers had issue directing traffic. So i removed having a single port and now it streams perfect. A lot faster response and no stuttering or anything.
