Why do Plex videos pick up date copied onto server instead of date video was taken?

Plex picks up the date the files were copied onto the NAS as opposed to video creation date. How do I get the video to reflect the creation date instead?

Edit the video file’s info.

Hover over it,
Pencil on the lower left corner - Click

Thanks @ChuckPa, but I’ve got ~5000 videos that I’m porting into Plex. Manually adjusting each vid just isn’t practical. How do I get Plex to do this automatically?

Anyone have an answer for this? It seems like basic functionality - where dates are pulled from in video files - but I can’t find that answer anywhere. All I find are other people asking similar questions.
