Why do subtitles not work in PS4 app?

I have a few movies (.mkv with ac3 audio) with external subtitles (.srt). I can watch them in the PS4 browser with PLEX and the subtitles are there in the dropdown menu for me to use...no problem. Why is it in the Plex PS4 app the subtitles are not there to use? "subtitles" is listed as "none"?????  Whats the deal?

On the PS3 (same client, I think), I first have to start playing the media file and while playing, I can choose the .srt subtitle files via the options menu (next to the forward button on the on screen display). Of course, the subtitle files have to be available for the concerning media file.

If you see 'None' in the pre-play screen, then the subtitle file has not been selected yet (if it's available).

Please see if you can select the subtitle file after you started the media file by using the 'opstions' menu.

Other plex clients let you choose the subs before playing, the PS client does not (yet).

I have no problem with this, loading fine. Maybe check whether the file is available in a browser?

Otherwise i'd just put a different .srt in there.

Thanks for the help guys. Rolf_ you are the man!....I did what you said and the subtitles play perfectly! Odd that you have to wait until it starts playing to enable them..but oh well..a minor issue as long as they do end up working.

Same problem here, I haven't tried to select the subtitle once the movie is playing but I can't see before playing it. I am sure I have the subtitle because it is for a video I have already seen but it is not present.

I will try to select them while playing.
