Why does audio transcoding break Dolby Vision?

I understand from reading the FAQ why TrueHD is transcoded but why does an audio transcode make video fall back to HDR10?

If I select an audio codec that doesn’t require transcoding then Dolby Vision works fine.

Surely the correct behavior would be to retain the Dolby Vision meta data?

Also, does anyone know how to test which Dolby Vision profiles are supported by a TV?
