Why does Plex Web request DRM support?

Server Version: 1.18.2.2015
Player Version: Web 4.12.2
Firefox Version: 70.0.1 (64-bit)

Just as the title says, why does Plex Web request DRM support?

Plex to partner with Warner Bros to stream free ad-supported movies and TV shows

wonder if it has something to due with this!!!

Thank you nydave69, that’s probably it.

Still very annoying, as it should only request DRM when you click on something that requires DRM.

properly getting the Web client ready for the change…
wonder if its now in all the clients?

I completely agree. It’s a little annoying that I get a banner telling me I have to enable DRM every time I go to manage my Plex Server.

I wonder if I can tell Firefox that I will never enable DRM and I don’t care if things that require it won’t play, please don’t ask again.

Edit: found this firefox bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1451762

And specifically; I only use plex to manage my own media which does not have DRM. I am concerned that Plex appears to be moving towards a media-delivery service and ignoring (to the point of removing functionality for) its origins. I am uninterested in DRM-locked media, and don’t want it showing up in my personal plex app
