Why does the subtitles appear so large on one file and not the other?

I was watching dotor who with local .ass subtiles i downloaded from opensubtitles, tjey all look great, until i came to season 2 episode 3 school reunion, where they looked huge and obscured the entire picture. I tried changing the size in the file with aegisub but it doesn’t help.
I tried watching the episode on my desktop computer and i could change the size through the plex player itself, but not on the tv.
How do i change it so they appear like the rest of the series?

Can you provide the subtitle file so I can check?

Yeah sure, how do i share them to you?

Just attach it to your next comment. You will need to zip it since the forum won’t accept a file with an .ass extension.

I’ve had a similar experience with some subtitles, enabling “Override included subtitle styling” in settings worked around that.
Perhaps Plex should offer a “normalize styling” option, where if for example a subtitle sets a fixed size for most/all lines, it should be overridden by the user settings, and if there are exceptions (a few lines being bigger/smaller) adjust them accordingly, relative to the size set by the user. Same thing for subtitles that color apply font styling (type, italics, bold, etc) to most/all lines.
Font and size were the two main reasons I disabled styling, some subtitles had god awful fonts, massive sizes, if those could be normalized instead I would prefer that (song lines being in italics is fine, text being different colors to indicate different people talking is fine)

How do i acces the “Override included subtitle styling” in the settings?

Doctor Who faulty big subtiles.zip (72.5 KB)

From the sidebar, settings at the bottom, there’s a subtitles category, should be the rightmost setting (name label gets cut off)

I dont have it on my tv
