Why doesn't my sync work on a Kindle with external storage?

My daughter has a Kindle with external storage (SD card). I synced her content to the SD card before we left home. No that I’m on my trip her synced content show up under local but whenever it is played a message says it can’t find the media. Now I look at the sync settings and it says internal storage. So Plex is looking for the externally synced content on the internal storage!

How do I change it back without deleting all content and ruining our vacation?

These instructions are from post made by @cjmurph for Android. I’m not sure if it will work for you (I don’t have any experience with a Kindle) but hopefully it does.

  1. Close the plex app.
  2. Using a file explorer (I used ES), navigate to the external SD card/Android/data/
  3. Find the folder named com.plexapp.android and rename it (I renamed it to com.plexbak.android).
  4. Open plex, go to settings>sync>sync settings.
  5. Change the sync location to internal (accept the warning about all your stuff being deleted)
  6. Change the sync location back to external (again, accept the warning)
  7. Close the plex app
  8. Navigate back to the external storage/Android/data/
  9. Now you will see a new com.plexapp.android folder has been created. Delete it.
  10. Rename the original (in my case com.plexbak.android) back to com.plexapp.android
  11. Start plex
  12. Enjoy your originally synced content again.

There have been a lot of issues with sync recently, check out this thread for more info.

Didn’t work, all my media files are now deleted. Dammit!
